It all started with a text to a friend who was currently studying in Baguio. It was February. The Flower feast, a yearly celebration in Baguio, was just around the corner. My friends and I were planning to witness the event. We were worried about where to stay. So I had to ask my friend to allow us to stay in their place while we were there. For some reasons, the plan was cancelled. One Friday night, the night of our supposed departure, my friend texted me saying she has given my cellphone number to someone who was supposed to have been my date had we pushed through with our plans. She told me to expect for his call anytime. She said he’s cute. [...]
It was fifteen minutes before the clock struck eleven. My brother called up to see if I've already known the news about my father's death.
"I thought he died Febuary two years ago?" I asked. "He was clinically dead then," my brother replied, "this time it's for real." "Oh" was all I could say. Maybe not typical enough. I didn't even bother to ask how or where or when did my old man die. I was speechless, not that I really felt sad, but rather, I felt nothing. [...] Sorry, but we just couldn't resist:
What's your take on the Kris Aquino/Joey Marquez brouhaha? (For those who weren't able to catch the TV Patrol interview, the full transcript is available inside.) [...] Pagbyabyahe...
[...] You learn a lot when you go to college.
You learn that pulling an all-nighter means staying up all night to study for a test you will then sleep through. You learn to appreciate the taste of beer - the cheapest of all alcoholic beverages. You learn that you can roll out of bed 10 minutes before class and go to class looking like shit - and no one will notice or care. [...] Kahit saan ako magpunta, The following, as my others, is more pleasurable when read aloud in a quiet place, preferably at the end of ones work day, before retiring for the night. Pleasant dreams to you.
I have recently returned from a mountain retreat. At elevations reaching 14,000 feet above sea level, the world was a clearer place, in both the physical and metaphysical senses. Up there, I was friendless but felt like I belonged. [...] Three lovely poems, from Mars, Vinn, and Imee. Here's an excerpt from mars' "For Amy":
Heartbeats are unstoppable As mornings come and go There’s only one reason I have I’m in love... ... in love with you. [...] |
