Berks: New & Improved!

Hi pipol! Katatapos lang namin i-renovate ang BERKS section ng tristancafe. Mas hi-tech na sya ngayon, chumochochal na talaga ang tristan, nyahaha!

Una, mas madali na syang i-navigate. Inalis na namin yung pag-"frame" sa gallery, meaning yung parang "page within a page" na sistema before, na medyo hassle sa pag-navigate lalo na kung malaki yung photo, kasi ang daming scrollbars na dapat itaas-baba at i-left-and-right dati.

Pangalawa, we fixed some bugs in the system. Dati kasi, minsan parang nawawala yung comments box o yung control panel sa Berks, and some mechanisms weren't working properly. Mas ok na din yung upload checking ngayon. Kung mas malaki yung dimensions (meaning, length and width) ng image na ina-upload mo kesa sa maximum dimensions allowed sa Berks (700 x 700 pixels), the system will now automatically resize the image upon upload, so parang wala ng limit sa dimensions ng images na pwedeng i-upload.

Pangatlo, dahil mga gaya-gaya puto-maya kami at mahilig sumunod sa uso, mas okay sa olrayt na din ngayon mag-upload ng mga videos. A couple of weeks ago we implemented a new upload mechanism na may "progress bar" that shows the status of your upload, like estimated time left, upload speed, etc. This is especially useful when uploading large files such as flash and video files. Also, we increased the allowed upload file size to 4MB. Kaya pwedeng-pwede na kayong mag-upload ng mga personal videos nyo sa Berks, pero yung mga wholesome lang ha, bwehehe.

Actually hindi pa kami tapos sa pag-renovate ng Berks, expand pa namin ng konti ang features at subukan namin gawin pang mas astig, especially the video section. Also, we're planning to run a "best personal original video" contest. Announce namin ang details soon.

At pang-apat, ngayon pwede mo ng ma-view ang Berks profile ng forumer though his forum profile. As usual, click nyo lang yung name ng forumer, tapos sa profile nya may link na dun kung saan pwede nyo makita yung mga files na na-upload nya sa Berks (kung meron.) We'll further "integrate" the forum and berks sections in the coming weeks.

Yung columns section pala, either this December or January next year na ang launch. Medyo inuna nga kasi namin ayusin ang mga dapat ayusin. Also, we're still a bit "stuck" sa development ng concepts and features ng columns section, hindi pa kami maka-decide sa "theme", what we'll include, what we'll leave out, etc. But we're really excited about this, we've already got some nice ideas and materials in the works. : )

Hi Trix! Medyo tinotopak pa din ang notifications ng tristan, hirap ayusin totally, kasi minsan di talaga kinakaya ni nobody yung sheer load ng emails sent every hour, plus may external factors din like triggering mail limits ng systems like yahoo mail, etc. There's a post about it and I think may detailed explanation dun, pati some proposed solutions:

Good job. May I suggest that we also look into putting a search box for post that we want to go back to again and again instead of going to the categories tab and then scrolling down to look for the post we want. Just a sudgestion. ; )
